The Waterfall That Falls Upward

Look closely at this waterfall. The water is not falling down. It is blowing up, back into the sky, like a video playing backward.

This strange sight happens on very windy days at tall waterfalls in Norway. Strong wind pushes hard against the falling water. The smallest drops are light enough for the wind to catch. Instead of dropping to the ground, they fly back up into the air.

Big drops of water are too heavy for this. Only the tiny, light spray turns around. Stand here on a windy day, and you might watch an entire waterfall seem to change its mind.
