It is called Spider Rock. Navajo people say Spider Woman lives at the top. They say she taught the Diné how to weave.
Polly did not land on it. Some things are better to look at. She sat on the other side and watched the light. Gold, then orange, then grey.
A small bird sang below her. The sound came back from the walls. Polly thought about the canyon for a long time. Then she flew west.
