Kone v údolí

Na štvrtý deň Polly počula hrom. Ale obloha bola modrá. Pozrela dole. Na piesku bežali kone.

On the fourth day, Polly heard thunder. But the sky was blue. She looked down. Horses were running on the sand.

Polly letela vedľa mladého hnedého koňa. Kam idete, spýtala sa. Nikam, povedal kôň. My tu len bežíme. Kone žijú v tomto kaňone už dlho.

Polly flew next to a young brown horse. Where are you going, she asked. Nowhere, said the horse. We just run here. Horses have lived in this canyon for a long time.

Piesok bol mäkký a rovný. Bol dokonalý na beh. Zvuk narazil na jednu stenu a vrátil sa od druhej steny. Dvadsať koní znelo ako dvesto.

The sand was soft and flat. It was perfect for running. The sound hit one wall and came back off the other wall. Twenty horses sounded like two hundred.

Potom kone zastali. Malý potok tiekol cez piesok. Pili vodu. Polly si sadla vedľa nich a nič nepovedala.

Then the horses stopped. A small stream ran through the sand. They drank the water. Polly sat next to them and said nothing.
