Les Chevaux du Canyon

Le quatrième jour, Polly entend du tonnerre. Mais le ciel est bleu. Elle regarde en bas. Des chevaux courent sur le sable.

On the fourth day, Polly heard thunder. But the sky was blue. She looked down. Horses were running on the sand.

Polly vole à côté d'un jeune cheval brun. Où vas-tu, demande-t-elle. Nulle part, dit le cheval. On court juste ici. Les chevaux vivent dans ce canyon depuis longtemps.

Polly flew next to a young brown horse. Where are you going, she asked. Nowhere, said the horse. We just run here. Horses have lived in this canyon for a long time.

Le sable est doux et plat. C'est parfait pour courir. Le son frappe un mur et revient de l'autre mur. Vingt chevaux, ça sonne comme deux cents.

The sand was soft and flat. It was perfect for running. The sound hit one wall and came back off the other wall. Twenty horses sounded like two hundred.

Puis les chevaux s'arrêtent. Un petit ruisseau coule dans le sable. Ils boivent l'eau. Polly s'assoit à côté d'eux et ne dit rien.

Then the horses stopped. A small stream ran through the sand. They drank the water. Polly sat next to them and said nothing.
