Crocodiles in Salt Water

The long shape is a crocodile. This lake has about four hundred crocodiles. They live in very salty water.

How can they do that? Their tongues push the salt out. And they know where the fresh water is. Small springs come up along the shore. The crocodiles drink there. They make their nests there too, close together.

There is an island in the lake. Two kinds of iguana live on it. One of them lives nowhere else in the world.

Before, there were three islands. Then the lake grew for ten years. It covered farms and roads. Two islands went under the water. Polly watches the crocodile turn and go down.
