Keep it on your phone βOn the third day, Polly saw houses in the cliff. They were small and square, high up in a big hollow in the rock.
A squirrel told her about them. People built these rooms from stone and mud, long ago. The hollow was dry and warm. One room is pale, so it has the name White House.
Did people live here before, asked Polly. Yes, said the squirrel. People have lived in this canyon for more than four thousand years.
One small path comes down from the top. It is the only path you can walk alone. Polly sat and watched the shadows move.
