Harper steps onto the light-bridge, pillow tucked under one arm. The strange tree frame waits by the dock, its empty branches glowing faint green.
Harper reaches out and taps the center branch. TINK. The whole frame shivers. Blocks blossom from the branches like slow-motion fireworks—plank cubes, glass cubes, soft lantern cubes. WHOOMP. WHOOMP. A tiny treehouse pod grows right in the middle of the branches, round and snug. A window pops open, spilling warm light over the lagoon.
A slim ladder of bark-blocks slides down the trunk with a quiet click. The treehouse door blinks once, like a friendly eye. Harper grins, heart thumping in a calm, excited way. “Okay, mystery tree,” Harper says softly. “Let’s see your secret level.”
